WinRAR
WinRAR, a powerful compression tool, is a 32-bit Windows version of RAR achiever and archive manager. It features many integrated extra functions to organize compressed archives. RAR compress files about 10 percent more as compared to ZIP or ARJ files. It supports almost every popular compression format i.e. RAR, ZIP, ACE, ARJ, BZ2, GZ, CAB, ISO, JAR, TAR, LZH, UUE, and Z etc. Not only it supports long file names and disk spanning, but can also create self-extractable files.
WinRAR has the capability to convert other archive formats to RAR and search for specified text and files in archives. Using this tool, it is possible to easily split archives into separate volumes hence can be saved on several disks. WinRAR is also faster than others and saves a lot of disc space, transmission cost and valuable working time. It offers the data backup facility and shortens the size of email attachments, decompress RAR, ZIP and other downloaded files from Internet and create new archives in RAR and ZIP file format.
WinRAR’s wizard mode allows instant access to basic archiving functions through a simple question and answer procedure.
WinRAR is available in over 40 languages and is well supported by Windows 95/98/NT/2000/ME/XP/2003 operating systems. The command line version is available for Linux, DOS, OS/2, FreeBSD, and MAC OS X. The Unicode supported in archive filenames allows non-English filenames to be handled easily.
