ICQ

ICQ (I Seek You) is an instant messaging computer program which lets registered users to communicate with registered friends and colleagues in real time. Developed by the Israeli company Mirabilis, ICQ offers a pioneering communication experience by enabling quick interaction amid users across all communication platforms. In 1998, AOL Time Warner acquired Mirabilis for $407 million.

The services offered by ICQ include sending text messages, offline support, multi-user chats, free daily-limited SMS sending, resumable file transfers, greeting cards, multiplayer games, a searchable user directory, and POP3 email support etc.

ICQ released a number of versions with advanced and latest technologies at different times, such as ICQ “Classic”, ICQ Pro, and ICQ Lite.

The featured ICQphone in ICQ Pro 2003b comprises IP telephony functions; hence, users can initiate and share PC-to-PC and PC-to-phone calls. Moreover, they can also find advanced features like SMS technology, wireless-pager messages, and up-to-date information on ICQ channels etc.

ICQ 6 offers the latest digital and mobile communication features such as quick IM, easy access simple navigation between incoming messages, tabbed conversations, search history of messages, files, and calls, advanced and easy to search through contacts etc.
